Madelyn Mae Matheny Kish, 80, of Nelsonville, passed away early Friday morning, March 5, 2010 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. She was born April 8, 1929 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Edward Leroy and Beatrice Juanita Rife Matheny. She was the widow of the late Vincent "Hook" Kish.

She was a 1947 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School and retired from Ohio University, Bromley Hall.

Madelyn is survived by her children, Linda Clark of Naples, FL, Brenda Mace of Nelsonville, Jean Deeter (Bruce McClead) of The Plains, Dennis Kish (Sandy Bishman) of Nelsonville and Vincent J. Kish of Naples, FL; 11 grandchildren, Emily (Wayne) Strickland, Dennis (Amy) Kish, Kelly Mace, Steve (Tiffany) Mace, Vincent (Liz) Kish, Scott (Dawn) Kish, Angie (Jonathon) Hooper, Kim Kish Reeves, Shannon Kish, BJ (Shawn) Simpson, Ted Deeter; 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Chuck (Anita) Matheny; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Patsy (Chuck) Wachenschwanz and many cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Kish; a sister, Beatrice Lanning; two brothers, John L. Matheny and Edward L. Matheny

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. No calling hours will be observed.
